Getting dUCked?

Assalamualaikum (Peace be Upon You) Everyone!

Alhamdulillah, with Allah's blessing I am able to write another blogpost.

Today's topic will be - dUCk scarves.

The famous jagged pattern line with the exclusive dUCk metal logo stitched at the end of the shawl. It is apparently the new rave (cool) for hijab especially in Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia.

Honestly, I had never heard of dUCk until late last year. My colleague who was obsessed with them introduced dUCk to me. I vaguely remember hearing about dUCk scarves from somewhere before but never really given it a thought.

Was told that the price is really high up there. As a blogger who is always looking for something interesting to blog, I was intrigued to check them out. Why does it cost that much? What made it EXTRAordinary as compared to any other premium hijab brands out there?

I was enroute to KL and decided to stop at Fashion Valet Bangsar (which is the only place that sells the dUCk scarves) to check out dUCk.

Where and how to buy?

First thing you need to know that majority of this shawl get sold out within minutes of release. You can only either buy it online at http://www.fashionvalet.com/brands/394/duck or at Fashion Valet outlet at Bangsar Village. Just so you know, Fashion Valet opened their FIRST Singapore store @313 Somerset. dUCk are available in Singapore from 1 June 2016.

When I was at Bangsar Village, I tried the different types of material that they manufactured. I didn't get any because the ones that I wanted were all sold out. Of course, based on the price for each scarves, I only wanted to get the best material thats worth the money.

When I was back in Singapore, I checked online and bought some that were still available.

I have to say the shipping service provided by SF Express is awesome. I usually receive my order in less than 3 working days.

Packaging

Each individual dUCk Scarf comes in a beautiful, sturdy purple box and a white dUCk ribbon. When you open the box, the scarf is nicely pack with dUCk tissue and sticker. That made the scarf feel really exclusive, like buying Hermes. Inside, it came with a short narrative story, written by "D", the co-founder and designer of the dUCk scarf. Every line of the scarf has it's story. It also comes with a card that shows you the ways you can style your dUCk, for hijabers and for those who don't.

I personally think that the exclusive feel and detailed thought given to the packaging is smart. I've seen many dUCk enthusiasts collecting them and stacking the boxes like a tower and calling it TOWER of dUCKs!

Material and Quality

dUCk scarves come in a variety of materials and colours. The majority of the scarves are plain while the Limited Edition (LE) ones are printed. There was one LE scarf which was very popular that "i heard" it kicked off the rave of the dUCk - The Kuala Lumpur scarf which portrays the skyline of the city.

5 materials for you to choose:

1. Satin Silk
2. Georgette
3. Mixed Crepe
4. Jersey
5. Peach Skin

I am truly in love with their Satin Silk and Mixed Crepe.

The Satin Silk is really smooth and soft. They are not thick. It is light and perfect for our hot and humid weather. When worn, the silk give that nice and put together effect. I would reserve the Satin Silk dUCks for special occasions such as Eid.

The Mixed crepe on the other hand is love at first wear. They are light, yet opaque. It is also perfect for our humid weather. I can use it for everyday wear.

I don't think the Peach Skin and Jersey are worth the money as it feels like a normal scarves you can buy at a much wallet/purse friendly price.

As for the Georgette, it is beautiful, its like heavy chiffon, which you could also get at a more affordable price. But there is a few colours that are really nice.

The down side to the dUCks is that it is not as long I would like my scarves to be but it is long enough to style it in variety of ways. It is about 180cm in length and 70 cm in width.

How I maintain them?
I just throw them in the washing machine. hahaha - lazy girl. It still dries off beautifully and does not shrink.

How much?
It is priced at RM130 for basics and goes up to RM300 for the Limited Edition ones.
I have yet to check the price at the Singapore Fashion Valet outlet. - SGD$44.00

Where can you get them?
Online - www.fashionvalet.com
Fashion Valet Bangsar Village (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
Fashion Valet Singapore at 313 Somerset.

NOTE: They sold out faster than hotcakes!
